Lisa, you sing so beautifully-strong and soulfully. I'm James Gibson's Mom. When your age, Joni Mitchell was the dominant saint of my (hedonistic) church - had a boyfriend that belted out falsetto with her, compellingly...:D
So while listening to your songs-your writing is so rich- I've been daydreaming of Joni and her early confessional songs and her incredible musical path through Mingus and every damn modern jazz master and her older years smokey deep register reinterpretations and then I'm back to...YOU.....You bring so much depth already, at 23. I've seen some of your path-your groundwork--you seemed to always have your hand out to help others up and so your women's studies is sweet to see--such a foundation for sisterhood. ( James' 15yr old sister mimics what a lot of her friends say, "I think girls should be paid the same but I don't really like all that feminist stuff" --same thing I heard 30 yrs ago, so I smile and tell her she might want to stay a little loose about that until she reads some feminist history...:) politicising, no?
So Lisa, I hear the (already) years of resolute living and growing in your voice and writing; I will enjoy listening to your musical journey.

I just heard Lisa sing last night at Tony Starlight's Supper Club and Lounge in Portland. How refreshing to hear such a confident, energetic performer who has something to say and obviously loves to sing. I look forward to hearing more of her originals as well as covers. Go Lisa! And welcome to Portland.

This woman is incredible. You only have to listen to her music once to know that she is singing from her heart and soul. I feel so privileged to know such an artist. It's refreshing to be able to listen to authentic and truthful music. BUY THIS CD NOW, you will not be disappointed!

Dearest Lisa,
This is awesome -- no surprise, though, because your talent shines, brings with it so much love; of music, of others. Memories surfacing in lyrics inspired from life. You are very much loved, dear heart. Keep up the good work!
